Hailed as ‘a modern-day David Bowie’ by Newcastle Student Radio, Marcus Reeves has been a writer and performer working in music and theatre for over two decades.
His debut album Quicksilver - The Masquerade Macabre, singles, EPs and audiobook of poetry have received critical acclaim and local radio airplay across the UK. His show Postcards from God - The Sister Wendy Musical has been presented at Jermyn Street Theatre, Hackney Empire Studio Theatre and South London Theatre, with its Concept Cast Recording receiving airplay from Elaine Paige and Graham Norton on BBC Radio Two.
Alongside his work as a singer songwriter, he has acted in numerous off West End and fringe productions, including a string of principal roles in science fiction themed shows - Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, REPLAY and most recently, Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience.
Marcus has studied singing with Mary King, devising with Emma Rice’s School for Wise Children and acting with Chris New at The Actors Centre. As part of London's alternative cabaret circuit, he performed alongside such luminaries as David Hoyle, Dickie Beau and Jonny Woo, sung in Our Lady J’s gospel choir at Soho Theatre and supported RuPaul’s Drag Race star Adore Delano at the legendary Black Cap. Through Southbank Centre's Voicelab, he sang with Mercury Music Prize winners Elbow, jazz improvisation icon Bobby McFerrin, beatboxer Shlomo and UK jazz legend Ian Shaw in choirs led by Dom Stichbury, Laka D and Mary King. Other highlights include a star-studded celebration of David Bowie at Union Chapel which also featured Glen Matlock, David McAlmont, The Magic Numbers and Dan Gillespie Sells of The Feeling, and supporting Tom Robinson at a fundraiser for the Russian LGBT Network.
